It's time to get down to business and start your college career. Below are five steps to help you apply to the college, register and get ready for class!

Apply Now -Whether you are a new applicant to TTC or a returning student, create an account on Apply Now and complete the online application. Check out the how-to video for step-by-step instructions.

  • See Trident Technical College's Admissions Requirements
Once you have completed and submitted your application, you will be able to view any supplemental items needed to complete your application steps on your Apply Now account.
  • Proof of high school graduation or a GED (required to receive financial aid)
    • Copy of high school diploma or GED
      Or
    • Official high school transcript showing graduation date (preferred)
  • Verification of legal presence in the United States
  • Placement testing for math and English coursework
    • Valid, qualifying SAT/ACT test scores*
    • Next-Gen ACCUPLACER Placement Test* (FREE in the TTC Testing Center).
    • Weighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher (final, official transcript required).
    • High school diploma or GED plus D2L Math Placement Test.
    • Prior college credits in math and/or English.

A Student Success Coach or academic advisor can help you choose the best option.

*Notes:
Math - You will need to provide one of the following scores or higher: SAT Math 521, ACT Math 24, Next-Gen ACCUPLACER Arithmetic 277, weighted high school GPA 4.0, D2L Math Placement Test 90, prior college credits in math. If your scores are lower than these, you will be required to take a corequisite math course.

English - You will need to provide one of the following scores or higher to show English proficiency: ACT English 19, SAT Evidence-based Reading & Writing 520, Next-Gen ACCUPLACER, prior college credits in English.

All scores have a 5-year expiration date from the time of testing.

Financial Aid - Apply for all aid, including SC lottery-funded tuition assistance, by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Some state scholarships (LIFE) and aid programs may not require a FAFSA, but students are strongly encouraged to complete the FAFSA and have their results sent to TTC.

Orientation - After you have submitted your application to the college and completed the rest of the admission process, Trident Tech will email and invite you to attend mandatory orientation. The email will contain a link to sign up for this engaging and important session. You can choose to attend in person or online.

Register - Make an appointment and meet with your assigned academic advisor or success coach to register for classes. Once you register, purchase your books and obtain your Student ID.

Pay Tuition - Pay tuition and fees by the published deadlines.

Attend Classes - Congratulations! You are now ready to attend class. Check the calendar to see when classes start. Be sure to attend class or log in and participate in an online class on the first day so you are not dropped from the class roster.

Online Application

Save time – upload or email your documentation
Once you have submitted your application through Apply Now, you can upload many of your required documents instead of waiting in line! Required documents may include a state-issued ID card/driver's license, copy of high school diploma/GED, high school transcripts, and any standardized test results (SAT/ACT/ACCUPLACER). When submitting official documents from other sources, such as official college or high school transcripts, please have any documents sent directly from the college/school to admissionsdocs@tridenttech.edu or through services like the National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment. If electronic submission is not possible, please have them mailed directly to the Admissions office at Trident Technical College.

If you have questions about determining or establishing classification as a South Carolina resident for tuition purposes, you may visit the Residency page or email specific questions to Jennifer Mulhern, Admissions residency coordinator, at jennifer.mulhern@tridenttech.edu.

Continuing Education

Continuing Education programs are professional development and personal interest courses that do not award academic credit but are eligible for continuing education units (CEUs). You do not have to apply and be admitted to the college to take these noncredit courses. Learn more.
