- Employment verification shall be defined as the act of providing employment-related information about employees (current or former, permanent or temporary) to persons outside of the College. Verifications may include requests to complete a Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) document and should be sent to employment@tridenttech.edu. Completion may take up to 72 hours, excluding holidays, weekends or College closures.
- Requests for employment verification must be in writing and signed by the applicant or otherwise authorized in writing by the employee, in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina privacy laws. Supervisors should transfer any related telephone calls to the Human Resources Office.
- Only staff members assigned to the Human Resources Office are authorized to release information for employment verification. Information released will be limited to dates of employment, position title, and salary information unless additional information is specifically authorized in writing by the employee or required by law. When appropriate, the Human Resources Office will consult with supervisors when completing verifications, particularly those requested by prospective employers. Any requests received by other offices should be forwarded to Human Resources immediately for completion by submitting them to employment@tridenttech.edu.
- Copies of employment verifications will become a part of an employee's official personnel file in accordance with applicable records retention requirements.
All employment verification requests shall be handled in compliance with the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act (S.C. Code Ann. § 30-4-10 et seq.), the South Carolina Personnel Records Act, and other applicable state and federal confidentiality laws.
