Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) helps students with documented disabilities access accommodations and support services at Trident Technical College. SSD also works with the college community to help make programs, services and activities accessible to all students.

Registering for Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD)

To receive accommodations, students must identify themselves to the college and provide documentation of a disability from a qualified professional. Students may register with SSD at any time on a voluntary and confidential basis. The college cannot provide accommodations until a student has registered with SSD and requested them.

Registering is a two-step process:

  1. Securely upload your verifying medical documentation:
    https://bit.ly/TTC_Documentation.
  2. Schedule an Intake with a Disability Counselor to determine accommodations: https://bit.ly/TTC_INTK.

During the Intake your needs will be discussed, reasonable accommodations will be determined, and you will receive information regarding procedures for using them.

Accommodations

Accommodations are determined based on your needs, how your disability affects you, and the essential requirements of your course, program or activity. They are designed to provide access but not lower academic standards, change essential course requirements or alter key functions. They are not retroactive and begin once your instructor receives your Faculty Notification Letter from SSD. Because those letters apply only to a specific course and term, they need to be requested each term you are enrolled.

A list of common accommodations and their application can be found on the Accommodations Glossary page.
